Formed
in the spring of 2004, Core Effect is a Detroit based regional
band whose music has been described as heavy, modern, "hook"
driven rock with an experimental edge.
The
band has been compared to the likes of Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle,
and 3 Days Grace yet has carved out their own very distinctive
sound. Guitarist Joe Keough excels at creating hallmark abstractions
with his typically effect-rich sound. Adding to the melody is
vocalist/bassist Randy Riddle whose deep raw pitch shares vocal
duties with the melodic voice of rhythm guitarist/vocalist John
Keffalo; their voices combine to form a unique blend of melodic
perfection.
The
rhythm section of the band brings strength through consistent,
groove heavy hooks often written in odd time signatures. Making
a large contribution to the rhythmic character of the band is
drummer Andrew Churchman whose metronomic percussion is in fact
the pulse of the songs. These characteristics and the energy
of the band members live performances make Core Effect's concerts
explosive and emotional.
